Stork DNS Project at the DNS Hackathon

ISC’s Senior Software Engineer Marcin Siodelski is attending the upcoming DNS Hackathon in Stockholm, sponsored by Netnod, DNS-OARC, and the RIPE NCC. For more information about how to partipate in the Hackathon, see this blog post. Applications are on-going, and even if you can’t travel to Stockholm, you can participate remotely via chat.

Marcin will be working on the Stork DNS Zone Viewer, specifically, attempting to retrieve and view DNS zones from PowerDNS, leveraging the DNS standards (IXFR, AXFR, notify) to support a cross-platform monitoring tool. Today, Stork manages Kea DHCP systems, and has a very nascent integration with BIND 9 DNS. In 2025, we plan to extend Stork to also provide some DNS management capabilities.

Marcin is hoping other participants, and particularly PowerDNS users, will join in and help with this open source effort.
